CLUB COMPETITION RULES

STANDING RULES FOR ALL COMPETITIONS

1. All competitions are restricted to honorary or fully paid up members.

2.  A member submitting an entry for any competition must own the copyright of entry.

3.  The camera operation only must have been done by the author, Prints or Digital Images can be commercially or home produced.

4.  All trophies are for competition annually.

5.  All prints submitted for competition MUST NOT have any identifying mark or title on the FACE of the print or mount. A Title, the name of the author, and trophy for which it is entered MUST be marked clearly on the BACK. Unless otherwise stated prints may be of any size up to 400 x 500 mm and must be mounted.

6.  Digital Images submitted for competition must have the format for the file name Number_Title_Name.jpg.  Spaces are acceptable in the Title and Name.  This is to comply with the SPF naming convention, the under score [ _ ] is used as a separator between Number Title and Name as shown here.

Note full stops should NOT be used for the separate in DAPG LRPS FRPS

The preferred format is now jpg saved at 9 or greater in Photoshop.

7. Where the rules do not otherwise prohibit, non-winning entries may be submitted NO MORE than twice, but an entry winning a trophy or Bi-Monthly trophy competition cannot be entered in any future competition for that trophy.

BI-MONTHLY COMPETITION

1. Standing Rules apply for Bi-Monthly Competition apart from the following:-

2.  For Bi-Monthly Competition held on club evenings entries must be available on the club evening the WEEK BEFORE the evening of the competition, except for set subject entries which can be entered on the night.

3. No print may be entered in more than two Bi-Monthly competitions and NOT consecutively.  

4. Competitions will be held at approximately two monthly intervals for prints in the following classes,
    
Gold - Toomey Trophy: -  Prints must be mounted on mounts 400 x 500mm
                                                                 
Silver - Chaplin Bowl: -    Prints can be any size up to 400 x 500mm and must be
mounted on mounts not exceeding 400 x 500mm

5. New Members can select to enter either of the Print classes but not both. Existing members are required to get the committees approval to change class, but this can only be granted at the beginning of the club year.

6. Members may enter up to three print entries in there class,   but must be numbered on the back 1 and 2.

7. Should the total number of entries in all classes exceed approximately 80 in any evening, the permissible number of entries per member will be reduced so as not to exceed 80 by using the number on the back. i.e. entry number 2 will be withdrawn, starting with the class with the highest number of entries until the number is reduced to below 80.

8.  Set Subject Competitions for prints, these will be held on the same evening as the Bi-Monthly Competitions. Members may enter up to 2 entries but should the total number of entries  exceed 80 this will be reduced to one An entry cannot be submitted on the same evening for both the Set Subject and Open Competitions. Subjects will be as in the programme.

CLUB TROPHIES

MARY LUCKHAM TROPHY (Silver Cup)

This Trophy shall be awarded to the winner of Mary Luckham Competition. This competition will be set by the Chairman and will normally take place over the summer break. The subject and the Instructions for the competition and the entree  rules  will published when the competition is set.

 D. S. WHITE TROPHY (Silver Cup)

Entries will consist of a SET OF FOUR PRINTS - one each of the following subjects: Landscape, Human portrait, A picture taken out of doors after dark, One other NOT RELATED to the other three in subject matter. All prints entered must be processed after the date of the previous competition for this trophy.

 ETCHELLS PORTRAIT VASE (Silver Vase)

Entries will consist of a SET OF THREE human portrait prints, members may submit up to three entries for consideration.

GEORGE SANGER TROPHY (Shield)

Entries must not have been entered in any previous competition for this trophy.  Members may submit up to three entries for this competition. The image should be 1400 x 1050 pixels maximum with 1050 px being the maximum height if the image is in portrait format. Image file names to comply with Rule 6 of the Standing Rules.

BULL TROPHY (Plaque)

The theme of this competition is humour in photography. An entry will consist of a print which must have been processed after the date of the previous competition for this trophy, members may submit up to three entries for this competition.

WILTSHIRE TROPHY (Silver Cup)

An entry for this trophy will be a print of a scene taken out of doors in Wiltshire, members may submit up to three entries for this competition.

PECHELL TROPHY (Silver Cup)

All club members are eligible to be considered for this trophy. The award will be made annually by the committee and the winner's name announced on the Presentation Night. The trophy will be awarded to the member whom the committee considers has made most photographic progress during the year.

CHAPLIN BOWL (Silver Bowl)

This trophy will be awarded to the best Print selected by a Judge from the highest scoring prints, of those entered in the Silver section of the Bi-Monthly competitions for that year.

TOOMEY TROPHY (Silver Cup)

This trophy will be awarded to the best Print selected by a Judge from the highest scoring prints, of those entered in the Gold section of the Bi-Monthly competitions for that year.

CLUB TROPHY (Plaque)

Club Trophy which will be awarded to the highest scoring Image in the new competition for Projected Digital Images

CASTLE CAMERA TROPHY

 This trophy will be awarded to the member scoring the highest number of points for print or slide entered in the SET SUBJECT the Bi-Monthly competitions.

Miss SLOANE STANLEY CUP (Silver Cup)

Will be awarded to the member scoring the highest aggregate score in Silver section of the 5 Bi -Monthly competitions.

JOHN BURKE TROPHY (Silver Cup)

This trophy will be awarded to the member scoring the highest aggregate score in Gold section of the 5 Bi -Monthly competitions as follows:-

3 points for a first place
2 points for a second place
1 point for a third place
1 point for all prints awarded seven or more marks by the judge.

The trophy can be won by either the Gold class, Silver class in the Bi-Monthly competitions.
