Club Overview

Programme Overview

The Club has a programme of events that varies from year to year but generally includes three types of events: presentations by guest speakers, competitions and Club Nights.  We try to plan about 10 of each into the programme so there is something for everyone.

  • Guest Speakers/lectures

Topics as diverse as nature, travel, landscape, portrait, army, underwater and monochrome photography, the speakers offer interesting and inspirational thoughts and ideas

  • Competitions

Bi Monthly and other regular competitions involving a visiting judge (see Club Competitions sections)

Inter club events - these mainly consist of photographic competitions with other clubs within our federation.  Some of these are competitions contributing to club rankings but many are light hearted in their approach.  Whatever the format of these evenings it is a good opportunity to meet and socialise with fellow photographers in other clubs

Trophy nights - a chance to enter for various trophies that are up for grabs.  All Trophies are subsequently awarded at the AGM

  • Club nights

These are meetings without invited speakers or judges

Practical nights - a chance to get hands on with a camera and lean from other members or share your knowledge in a night of practical photography

Members' night - the opportunity to show some examples of your images and maybe talk for 5 or 10 minutes on a type of photography you really enjoy, if you would like to.  It is great fun, and a lovely way to find out what makes people tick, it can be quite eye-opening at times.

And finally we have various outings - we always have a night-time photography event, usually when the fair comes to Salisbury Market Place.  We also have a summer photography outing to interesting and photogenic places like Martin Down, so we can keep in touch over the summer break.  Then, of course, we have a Christmas get-together meal.  For the past 6 years we have held an extremely successful Spring break holiday that has included places/venues such as the Isle of Wight, Bridport and Bexhill, which are always very popular.

We are always looking for new ideas for the programme and for outings, so we would welcome any that you may have. There is also a Suggestions Box you can post to on the Contact Us page on the website.
